Birth Assistant | Ellensburg
Job Overview
Sky Valley Midwifery is looking to hire an on-call birth assistant to attend deliveries with their licensed midwives in both the home and birth center setting. Each location averages 10 births per month. Full-time and part-time positions are available and we are open to discussing different options around on-call time as long as there is consistency from month to month. Bi-weekly pay encompasses a stipend for being available on-call and an additional $400 per birth attended.
Duties
- Setting up birth trays prior to delivery with medical equipment provided by the midwife.
-Charting using electronic and/or paper charting materials during labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
- Take patient vitals per provider's request.
-Administer postpartum medications (through oral, IM, and IV routes) per provider's request.
- Keep the birth area clean and organized
- Must be competent in using NRP skills should the need for resuscitation be required.
-Must be available at all times during their scheduled time. Additionally, must be within 30 minutes from the on-call service area while on-call unless previously arranged with the on-call midwife.
Requirements:
- Must be currently NRP and CPR certified
-Must hold a minimum of a BLS certification (e.g. EMT, MA, CNA, RN) in active status
-Must be comfortable with interacting with patients in a professional manner
-Must have previous L&D experience
-Is IV placement certified
Preferred Qualifications:
- Has their RN certification
- Has previous experience with medical charting
